Chapter 13

Fabian’s POV

I watched her sleep like a freaking psychopath.

But since I entered the room, I couldn’t look away. Paris had the most angelic face, and if given a chance, I’d watch her forever. It was creepy—just staring at her sleeping state with her lips slightly ajar and her chest rising and falling in slow breaths.

I did it last night too. After hours of talking and cheering me up, she fell asleep beside me. I’d watched her sleep for at least an hour before my own slumber drove me to bed.

Her entire presence radiated peace, and I never want to lose that.

Paris had shown me repeatedly that she won’t leave me, no matter how messed up I was in my mind. I tried to ghost her two times since we started hanging out, and it all had been vain. She always returned to me.

When I came home and saw her last night, I was so happy—confused—but happy. I was delighted to see her, confused about why she was passed out in my bed, and relieved that she had come back to me.

Despite my fucked up mind, I’d be a fool to let her go again.

I hate to agree with my brother, but he was damn right when he said that Paris was the only person who steadies my mind. I have no clue how this tiny human with a bob haircut and the cutest nose fell into my life and turned it upside down.

Literally.

Maybe the universe pitied me, and as much as I despise being pitied, I freaking love it this time. Because I undoubtedly and unquestionably needed her.

She stirred a little, showing me she had returned to the conscious world. I stiffened, for God knows what reason. The eyes I’ve grown so much to adore fluttered open, immediately meeting mine with all their beauty. And then her lips twitched, and her heartwarming smile graced her features as she dragged her finger over my cheek.

My nerves instantly reacted, and my body shivered at the tiny gesture.

God, Paris. If you ever knew what you do to me.

“Good morning, Charmer,” she mumbled, trying to cover her mouth as she spoke. I chuckled.

“Good morning, Skates.” A smirk threatened my lips as her eyes widened in shock, and then her eyebrows pulled together in curiosity.

“How come you don’t have morning breath?” she asked, still covering her mouth. She’s too cute.

I shrugged against the pillows. “Magic powers.”

For a minute, I could’ve sworn she believed me. I doubled over in laughter, clenching my stomach as her cheeks tinted in the cutest shade of pink. The humour, no doubt, had been one-sided.

She shuffled from the bed with a huff—still very much covering her mouth and headed for my attached bathroom.

“Paris!” I called after her, trying not to laugh harder as she struggled to move in my oversized sweats. They weren’t huge, but she made them seem so.

“Leave me alone,” she mumbled, throwing me a glare over her shoulder. I knew she was only annoyed. But if I’m being fair, I tease her a lot.
