Chapter Sixteen
“So, is whoring commonplace on Earth?” asked the one sister as soon as the door had sealed shut, cutting Emma off from Rafe. It signaled the start of the bitch-fest.
Luludja sniffed. “I guess it’s to be expected from a non-sentient planet. Really, they are little more than barbarians,” she confided, pressing a hand on her very pregnant belly. “Dressing them in clothes doesn’t make them intelligent.”
“You’re right. Wearing clothes doesn’t stop you from being a moron, and knowing how to speak doesn’t mean you aren’t an idiot.” Emma didn’t care who the women were related to. She wasn’t about to let them talk smack to her face.
“It speaks.” Titters. “Like a trained Pheroq. Do you think it does more tricks?” The smirk on the pregnant one’s face really asked for a slap.
Since slapping a woman about to give birth any moment seemed wrong, Emma stuck to glaring. “Do you have a problem with me?”
“We very much have a problem.” With her eyes narrowed and her chin pointed, the tall and slender sister tucked her hands as she focused her attention on Emma. “Your presence here is unwanted.”
That was certainly blunt. “Then why did you tell Rafe in the hall that you’d take care of me?”
A slow smile spread over Flor’ixa’s lips. “We will take care of you, never fear.”
“Between us, I’m sure we can shove your whorish body into an incinerator chute.” Such a bloodthirsty promise from a woman about to become a mother.
It brought a chill to Emma’s blood. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“We would dare much to protect the chosen one.”
It seemed the crazy didn’t fall far from the tree. The sisters darted at Emma, and she gaped at them for a frozen moment—they wouldn’t seriously ash me in the garbage chute, would they? Judging by the determined light in their eyes, yes, they would. Uttering a squeak, she picked up her feet and ran. The spacious room loomed, big enough that she could dart from side to side and evade their first few snatching grabs, but when the bitchier sister barked, “Stop her,” Emma didn’t stand a chance against the soldier sentinels that suddenly came to life. Silent and unmoving against the walls, at the command, they stepped forth, and there was no evading them. Gloved fingers latched around her forearms on each side, holding her immobile.
The tight grip didn’t stop her from squirming and kicking, yelling colorful invectives. “You cock-sucking bitches.”
Crack. The taller of the two slapped Emma. “How dare you. We are proper Rhomanii wives. We would never waste our husband’s seed like that.”
“You never blow them?” The very concept had her dumbstruck.
“Get rid of her before we have to listen to more of her barbaric views. No wonder they’ve not achieved sentience.”
Emma’s lips pursed. “Apparently, we’re too smart for you. On Earth, women aren’t chattel to men.”
“Then I feel sorry for you. There is nothing more satisfying than being mated to a powerful male who knows how to reave for his family and protect them.”
Running her hand over a section of the wall, Flor’ixa smiled as a panel slid aside, showing a gaping hole.
