“I AM YOUR MERCIFUL MOTHER”

During an apparition in the sixteenth century in a Mexican village, Mary (Our Lady of Guadalupe) revealed her identity to Juan Diego and to the whole world: “I am your merciful Mother, the Mother of all who live in this land and of all mankind. I will hear the weeping and sorrows of those who love me, cry to me, and have confidence in me, and I will give them consolation and relief.” These words of comfort from Our Lady, spoken directly to Juan Diego, also speak to each of us when we are experiencing emotional hardship. Read them slowly and allow her words of comfort to “penetrate your heart” in any area where you are currently undergoing emotional difficulties:

Hear and let it penetrate your heart, my dear little one.

Let nothing discourage you, nothing depress you.

Let nothing alter your heart or your countenance.

Am I not here, who am your Mother?

Are you not under my shadow and protection?

Am I not your fountain of life?

Are you not in the folds of my mantle?

In the crossing of my arms?

Is there anything else that you need?

Do not fear any illness or vexation, anxiety or pain.38
