28. AHEAD OF THE CURVE

With every project I take on, I pursue win-win situations that will meet the needs of all who are involved. In this instance, the styled shoot art directed by Megan and photographed by my team and I worked out terrifically in that capacity. Having partnered with many amazing vendors and an exquisite historic venue in Connecticut, we were able to make lasting relationships with all who we collaborated with. This one shoot was a terrific success; it led to future wedding bookings, allowed us to develop fresh boudoir photos for marketing, share the resulting photos with all vendors involved (which solidified our relationships with them and led to referrals), and perhaps most exciting, provided free advertising—we had our photos featured in over one hundred different publications, including the cover of Connecticut Bride. This shoot was so successful in part because of the art direction. We were ahead of the curve sensing in advance the popularity and hype that was to ensue surrounding the movie The Great Gatsby and the immense resurgence in popularity of the Art Deco/1920s style that subsequently permeated nearly every facet of pop culture.
