Temporal tap

Temporal tap is a Kinesiology technique for embedding positive affirmations or goals and consolidating positive change in the present, and can be used to enhance any changes you are making. It involves tapping with the fingers along the temporosphenoidal (TS) line on the skull, a fan-shaped line around and above the ears (see Figure 6.1b). This is the place where the brain filters incoming sensory information so that we are not overwhelmed by too much information coming at us at any one time.

In 1975 George Goodheart discovered that this filtering system could be temporarily switched off by tapping the TS line, and that this could be used therapeutically to allow positive messages to enter and not be filtered out. This can be used to enhance any affirmations or goal, and is useful to help to support changes of habit such as giving up smoking.
