“You look tired, Dad. Did you not sleep well?” Hazard asked the image that appeared on his vid display.

“No, in fact, I didn’t sleep well, and it’s your fault.”

Before Hazard could ask why it was his fault, his father continued, “You said yes to your sister last night, and she immediately called her mother. The two of them chatted and giggled like schoolgirls. If you think I look tired, you should see your mother.”

“What did you want me to do, Dad? Wait until this morning? If I’d told Holly I was going to wait until today, she would’ve badgered me all night.”

Hazard’s father chuckled. “The only reason I managed to get any sleep at all was that I told your mother she should be taking notes on the plans they were making, so she got up and went into the other room to use her writing desk. Oh, by the way, another reason she’s so excited is that she didn’t get to help plan your wedding.”

“I screened you this early because you’re normally up. I was going to warn you about the conversation I had with Holly, but obviously, you know all about it. I’ve got a meeting with Kyle in a few minutes, so I need to go.”

“I’ll see you at nine, then, for the treaty briefing.” Duke Henry ended the call.
