Abduction of the Hip = Adduction of the Iliac

Abduction of the hip initiates traction on the iliac, causing iliac adduction.

With a strong abduction of the hip, the inner thigh muscles tense and pull the ischio-pubic ramus.

If the entire pelvis follows, we call this lateral internal inclination of the pelvis.

If the movement leads only the iliac bone (and the sacrum does not follow), we call this (1, 2) iliac adduction.

The same effect is produced if abduction is combined with (3) a little flexion.
