Evenings are a great opportunity for some quick calisthenics. Do some basic exercises for 10 to 20 minutes, such as jumping jacks, stretches, jogging on the spot, jumping rope, sit-ups, and sets of crunches. Consider lifting dumbbells during television commercials.
If you are a night owl, try not to exercise too late. Working out too close to bedtime, such as an hour or so before you go to sleep, will disrupt your sleep.
On weekends:
Set the clock early and go for a walk or run while you have the world to yourself.
Rethink your weekend rituals. Try a Saturday bike ride, a rock-climbing lesson, or a swim in a pool.
Look for scenic routes for weekly walks and bike rides with your family, friends, or alone â all year round.
Wash your car by hand.
Get rid of labor-saving devices such as snow blowers and electric lawn mowers. Get out your shovel or push mower and use your own energy for these tasks.
