Anastasia visited the exobiologist. She didn’t know if Isaac could help Chris and found him in the medical bay observing the corpses of the Orias. When she stepped in, he looked up from the magnifier.

“Ah, Commander?”

“Doctor. How are you?” she asked. She had hardly seen him, and Adrian had told her he refused to leave his quarters for a week. She was happy to see him here.

“Did you find anything new?”

He shook his head. The wound on his left cheek and ear was still healing.

“I’m keeping myself busy,” he stated.

“Good idea,” she said and explained the reason for her visit.

He looked uncertain. “I do not know how much I can help. I am an exobiologist, not a guy who chases asteroids.”

Anastasia tried to control her smile. “I would like you to talk with Chris.”

“Sure, I’ll try, but do not expect me to dissect it.”

“I respect your limitations,” she joked.

He glared at her.

“Have a nice day, doctor. Tell me if the dead Orias start talking.”

He blinked several times.

“Oh, God knows I try,” she muttered. “Bye, doc!”

Anastasia strolled down the corridor with her head low. She paused and gazed at Poseidon through the window. For several minutes, she watched it. It was beautiful, and its glow extended several kilometers on both sides. It was glorious and daunting at the same time. She wished they had arrived under different circumstances.

She felt a twist in her gut as she recalled her actions. Only if she had listened to Mykel and not gone after the queen. Anastasia was enraged. She gritted her teeth and cursed herself for failing. Even if Titan had been destroyed, killing the queen would have ended the war. It would have been worth it.
