Knights' Hall

Originally a ballroom, the Knights' Hall was completed in 1624 and the last of the castle's rooms to be furnished. Gracing the walls are the Rosenborg Tapestries, 12 woven works depicting the battles between Denmark and Sweden during the Scanian War (1675–79). The tapestries were a PR exercise of sorts, commissioned by Christian V to flaunt his military prowess. The Knights' Hall is also home to the coronation thrones and a stucco ceiling with four paintings by Hendrick Krock that represent the four regalia: crown, orb, sword and sceptre. Two small chambers run off the hall, one displaying Venetian glassware, the other home to Royal Copenhagen Porcelain's original Flora Danica set, adorned with exquisite botanical motifs.
