‘Please don’t hurt me,’ the German soldier yelled as sir Godfrey stood over him, rifle pointed at his chest. ‘Its the 30th April 1945.’

Now sir Godfrey now knew exactly where and when he was. The Russian shock troops were approaching Berlin, Hitler was in his bunker and the end of the war was getting closer.

Right, he thought, let’s see what we can do to help. He started walking off. ‘Thank you,’ said the soldier. The MOD turned and shot him in the head. Well, doesn’t pay to leave the enemy alive, you know. Never know what sort of mischief they might get up to.
