“He doesn’t have it yet,” she said in Pugacello’s defense.

“It could be your ticket out of Café Maybe. Even if, you still have to work at your sister’s print shop. For the cause.” Eden wanted access to the copy machines for leaflets for Epilepsy Night. Ugly Night. Alienated Night. Vulgarity Night. Surveillance Night. Inadequacy Night.

“I’d rather be committed.”

At the next Drill Day, Fab singled Rosemary out. He stepped up to her and waved his gloved hand smelling of paint thinner. “Now I’m out of character,” he said.

Rosemary started coughing from the smell.
