Sprann got up in the morning refreshed as the robots brought out bacon and eggs with fresh biscuits. They had strong tea and honey from Sprann’s bag of holding and he decided to stock the little inn’s larder with the foods that would stay stable. They would be restocking when they returned to Dwashu anyway. The old wizard saw Lee dragging himself out of the room upstairs. The other guardsmen were enjoying a relaxing breakfast as they greeted Lee.

“You look like warmed over death. Didn’t you sleep well last night?” Sprann asked.

“I was sleeping late until my ward woke me up. An animal set it off,” Lee said yawning and stretching.

“Couldn’t you get back to sleep?” Sprann asked.

“Oh, sure…until the damn thing went off again and again. Then I had to go remove it and I was wide awake by then. Then I worried we didn’t have any warning system and I worried about that,” Lee said and thankfully received a plate of hot food. “Hey, this is pretty good. I guess my father’s recipes are decent for robots – the golems.” Lee focused on the adenosine accumulations from being awake too long and flushed it from his system. It felt like a wave of energy or light passing through his brain. His drowsiness left him, and he felt refreshed. He used a secondary enchantment to reregulate his body’s natural sleep-wake cycle. He took a deep breath and let it out slow.

“What did you just do? You look refreshed and relaxed,” Sprann asked because he saw the flush of magic and then Lee’s renewal.

“The body accumulates adenosine in the brain while you are awake, and sleep reduces the level of adenosine. I removed it with magic and reset my normal wake-sleep cycle,” Lee said.

“I could use that. I will ask you more about that chemical – adenosine,” Sprann said and then laughed. “I take that back…no…no…don’t tell me. I’ll take the medical learning cylinder – otherwise you will tell me all about the properties of this chemical and how it regulates sleeping and what not – that lecture will make ME sleepy. Hold that explanation,” Sprann said and held up his cup and the golem came over and added more tea.
