Tool: Reporting Standards for Systematic Reviews in Healthcare

Another standard for reporting literature searches is STARLITE, which stands for (Sampling strategy, Type of study, Approaches, Range of years, Limits, Inclusions and exclusions, Terms used, Electronic sources) (Booth, 2006). STARLITE focuses on reporting of qualitative systematic reviews in healthcare. Other standards for reporting literature searches include the CONSORT Statement in randomized controlled trials (CONSORT Group, 2010), STARD Statement for reporting studies of diagnostic accuracy, MOOSE Statement for reporting meta-analyses of observational studies in epidemiology, and the STROBE Statement for observational studies in epidemiology (STROBE Group, 2010). Each of the most common standards for reporting studies is presented in Table 8.3.
