Wibble.

Hickory looked out at the storm that was attacking the building. Now, Tavara had experienced its fair share of wet weather in the past. The planet was a giant flood plain after all – it’d been passed over for major colonisation for just that reason. But this wasn’t the usual rain. Hickory struggled to find something appropriate to compare it to. It was practically crystalline. Almost like someone was pouring that expensive bottled water you get in newsagents, the type that come in glass bottles. It was so wet that it almost hurt to look at.

Hickory settled on calling it very wet.

Mason was sitting at the table in the Staffroom and picking through the day’s information. Conceding defeat for a moment, she drank some more coffee and stood up to stretch. It had been a long day.

“Very strange weather, Sergeant,” announced Hickory. Mason made her way over.

“It’s just rain,” she said.

Hickory looked uncertain. “There was really quite a lot of sunshine half an hour ago.”

“Yeah?” said Mason, drinking more coffee. “The weather changes. I know we’ve been in orbit for a long time, but you should remember that.”

Hickory’s face didn’t’ change. “It does? Interesting.”

They stood listening to the rain for a while.

Then with all the force of a bull on cocaine a massive, tingly burst of wind materialised down the corridor. Wilson sprinted from the teleport node into the room.

“PANIC!” Wilson panicked. “MASSIVE ENVIRONMENTAL ERROR! ATMOSPHERIC ENGINES ARE MALFUNCTIONING! REPENT! REPENT!”

Mason and Hickory looked at him.

“I believe that more strange things may be happening” said Hickory as Wilson collapsed on the floor.

“Wonderful,” said Mason.
