Chapter

Fifteen

The day ahead loomed with unknown perils and probably a bunch of misadventures given how my luck had been lately. And that wasn’t just me being dramatic.

The trip Cale and I planned today was far riskier than delivering the Troll weapon to Eros.

Since I continued to age every day now, I really had little choice. To even have a chance of winning, I was going to need a bigger, more bad-ass army than the one Ares gathered. Minotaurs were mine for the asking, but there weren’t that many of them. The gifted weapon I currently wore as a piece of jewelry was my only genuine lead. There were plenty of Centaurs and everyone seemed afraid of them. But I’d get back to worrying about finding my Centaur grandfather shortly.

Right now, I wanted to drink my morning coffee and hang on to last night’s happiness for just a few minutes more. This is why I roared loudly when I handed Cale his morning coffee. I smiled when he laughed and nearly spilled it.

He took a sip, and then growled back at me in his lowest, grumbliest Dragon voice. I grinned at his effort. It wasn’t as good as my mock-Yeti roar, but he was trying his best to play the game with me.

Since my birth father didn’t answer me, I didn’t pour him any. Instead, I blew on my own coffee to cool it while Zeus looked suspiciously between me and Cale.

“Is everything okay? Why were you two roaring at each other?”

Cale covered his mouth with his hand and ducked his head. Like always, I was on my own in thinking of something that would explain what was no one’s business but ours.

Tired of waiting, I sipped my scalding hot coffee. “The roaring was because we had Yeti sex,” I said flatly.

I turned away from his inquisitive gaze using the pretense of pouring Zeus a cup of coffee. I took my sweet time and fixed it just like I knew he liked it. Smiling secretively, and knowing my answer had irked him, I turned and carried his coffee to him with all the innocence in my gaze I could muster.

“It’s not like I go around telling people, but Yeti sex is my favorite kink. Cale indulged me last night. That’s why I’m the happiest woman alive this morning. And now you know.”

Cale choked on a sip of coffee as he fought not to laugh. I watched a wariness enter my bragging birth father’s gaze. Keeping my expression the
