Niall’s Bed and Breakfast, the name of the little business Brody had brought her to, was looking decidedly better now that the major renovations had been completed. He was pleased by the down-home, cheerful atmosphere and charm they’d managed to capture there. But the real test was the delighted look in Chantelle’s eyes as soon as they stepped inside.

“Oh, it’s perfect!” she said enthusiastically.

“Hello, boss, who’s your friend?” asked Peter, the man who was currently standing behind the reception desk.

“This is Miss Chantelle Davis,” Brody announced with a reverent glance in her direction. “I want everyone to treat her with the best of care. I have a feeling this won’t be the only time you’ll be seeing her here.”

Chantelle looked shyly down, but Brody put a finger under her chin to lift her face again.

“Baby, this is Peter Castanov,” he told her. “He’s the manager here, but every once in a while you can find him out here covering shifts for reception, like he appears to be right now. Where are Mary and Brant, anyway? I want them to meet her, too.”

“They’re in the breakroom having breakfast,” Peter replied as he cast Chantelle a little wink. “Call me nosy, but I want the details. Where’d you two meet? How long has this been going on? When’s the wedding?”

Chantelle laughed. “Slow down, Peter, this is only our first real date. We met on the internet because Brody’s interested in a property my mama’s thinking to sell. So, as far as a wedding, even though this character would love it if we had one today, I’m not even thinking about that just yet. I’m all about graduation in two weeks.”

“Oh, are you in college?” he asked. “What’s your major?”

“Environmental studies and wildlife biology—double major,” she replied.

“Wow, sounds like a heavy load,” Peter said on a sigh.

“She’s even brought some of her homework with her so she won’t be bored tomorrow,” Brody added. “I’ll want to give all the changes a once-over here, and then I’ll be heading over to the two campsites as well. We intend to be here for two days. But for now, we’ll want breakfast sent up to my private suite, and then I don’t want to be disturbed unless I call you for something personally. Understood?”

Surreptitiously glancing at Chantelle with an appreciative smirk, he said, “Of course, Mr. Quinn. Are you stopping by the breakroom on your way up? Do you want me to have Brant bring up your bags?”

“No, they’re fairly light, I’m sure we can manage them ourselves,” Brody told him. “Come on, Chantelle, let’s go meet two of the nicest people you’re ever going to want to know. Oh yeah, Gates is here too, Peter. Could you set him up with a room as well?”

“No problem, sir,” Peter said with a nod.

Down a hallway accented with large slabs of river rock, they found the breakroom. An older couple sat at a little table eating omelets and laughing over a private joke. When they saw Brody
