Step 4: Determine the resources available. At this point, you have determined the mission and goals for your online strategy, and you have identified and developed a good understanding of the people for whom you are developing it. But before you can start selecting specific technologies, you have one more step to complete: determining your available resources. In order to create an effective online ministry, you must understand your own capacity to implement and maintain it. The resources you have will determine that.

What do I mean by resources? There are three primary categories of resources: skills, available time and money.

1. Skills. The first thing to do is to inventory the skills available to your organization. These can be both technical and nontechnical skills, and your need for these skills will vary depending upon your project’s goals. Some technical skills to consider include:

programming

website development skills

technical knowledge of specific software programs

graphic design
