“Colin, we got a hit from a mobile number in Wales. It’s offline again now, but I’m sending you the pin where the call originated from.” Piers’ excited face filled his screen, the grin spreading from ear-to-ear.

Colin slammed his hand down onto the desk in triumph. “Great news. I owe you a drink, buddy.”

“Your boys and our boys, two sides of the same coin, eh? I told you Piers would come through for his old chum, didn’t I? Besides, if we get the father, I’m not too fussed about the girl. Michael Randall is our main interest now, after what we discovered at his dump of an apartment in London. It appears he’s not been following the scripture, so he’s ripe for a re-education camp. Not that I don’t think we’ll get them both before you get a sniff, but all’s fair.”

As the call terminated, Colin dialled Kozlowski. A set of GPRS co-ordinates pinged onto his Head-Up Display, followed by a message from Piers titled Eat a bag of dicks. It contained one line which simply read the race is on…

The agent picked up the call on the third ring. He looked bored, his face dull and tired, with heavy purple bags under his eyes. Colin waved his hands as he spoke. “We’ve got them. Head west, I’ll send the pin. You’re still in the Midlands, right?”

“West of Birmingham. I’m on my way.”

“The gov team has got a lead on us, Kozlowski. They’ll arrive at least an hour before, but you know as well as I do, they adhere to certain rules which we don’t. To buy you some time, I’ll call in a bomb threat. The area will be sealed off for a while, but it won’t take them long to clear it. I mean, who the fuck wants to blow up a place called Llandovery? Even the Welsh nationalists wouldn’t bother.”
