To Stella's shock, Angela was true to her word about not bringing up work at their lunch. Felicia had even been invited to sit at the table by Angela when it became clear that she was Stella's friend, so that helped to steer the conversation away from art in general. Rather, they recounted some stories from the trip to Seattle. Felicia had never been and feigned interest even though Stella doubted she really wanted to know about the best restaurants and worst cafés in a city she'd never visited.

"We went to this bar," Angela said, laughing into her tea. Stella immediately began to giggle, feeling her cheeks heat up in embarrassment.

"Don't tell this one!"

"Please, whatever it is, I must know," Felicia encouraged.

"It was my fault, really. I knew this place did line dancing, but I misread the website. I thought it said it was only on Thursday nights, but it turned out that it was every night except Thursdays. So, we showed up on a Friday, empty stomachs and wearing heels, to this bar where everyone is standing in the middle of the floor wearing cowboy hats."

"No!" Felicia gasped. "I assume you both left."

"Would I be telling you this if we had?"

She couldn’t believe that it was really a picture of herself, looking at it. Having lived as a high-society suburban housewife for the past several decades, something like this wasn’t anything she’d ever expected herself to do. She had always considered it to be far too embarrassing to try, like having a little tipsy fun was below her.

"Well, of course the first thing I did was buy both of us a hat," Angela said. "The second thing was to guilt Stella into putting it on."

"How did you get her on that bull?"

She laughed. "I think the third margarita finished the job I started. I just kept telling her how fun it would be until finally, she stood up and just... got up there!"

"I figured it was better than line dancing," she said. "At least I ran the risk of breaking my neck and getting out of that bar."

"Does this look like the face of someone who didn't have an amazing time setting the bar's record for longest bull ride in high heels?" Angela zoomed in on her face in the photo for good measure. She was grinning, laughing. She really had enjoyed herself, even if it wasn’t something she could ever see herself doing again. It was
