CHAPTER 12

Grams smiled as she watched Lizzie devour the ham and swiss sandwich. In addition to keeping her hostage, they hadn’t fed her for the past three days and the girl was starving. “Why don’t you go up and lay down. I’ll show you to your room."

Lizzie stood up with a big yawn. “I need to find my mom. I can’t sleep until I know she’s safe.”

I grabbed her hand, squeezing her fingers. “We are heading out, right now, to the first house where they held you guys. The best thing you can do right now is get some rest. We will be back before you know it.”

Lizzie chewed her lower lip for a couple seconds. “What if she’s not there?”

Fiona wrapped her arm around the girl’s shoulders and nudged her toward the stairs just past the living room. “I’m not going to lie, there’s a good chance she isn’t there. However, this house is our best bet for finding where your mother might be held. You gave us the lead that might break this case and is your mom’s best bet at us finding her.”

Not to mention we had no idea where to begin in looking for the Dark One. We didn’t need to point that out to Lizzie. Her priority was on her mother which is how it should be.

Lizzie sighed and embraced Fiona. “Thank you, for helping us. I don’t know what we would do without you guys.”

Grams extended her arms to me. I kissed Kalliopi’s soft head then handed my daughter to her. Argies’ arms wound around me from behind as I watched Grams climb the stairs with my baby, Lizzie at her side.

“We will be back home in no time,” Argies reassured me.

A sigh gusted out of me as I pulled free of his hold and moved to the back door. “I know we will. The Dark One is messing with the wrong coven. She might think she’s going to break us with the constant chaos but all she’s doing is pissing me off and making me more determined to kick her evil arse.”

Violet bumped a fist against mine. “We’re going to laugh every step of the way.”

Piling in the truck was becoming second nature at this point. Sebastian drummed his fingers on the steering wheel as he drove out of town. The house Lizzie said she was held in was located up the coast a half an hour from the house Thanos built for Violet.

“Do you think it’s a coincidence that there is a second house built on the cliffs?” I’d learned that nothing was a coincidence but couldn’t for the life of me figure out why the Dark One would keep selecting homes on the ocean.

Violet tilted her head from side to side. “The sea has power of its own. Being close to it powers many paranormal beings, however I don’t think that’s the case for the Dark One.”

Thanos leaned forward, running a finger across Violet’s cheek. “More and more evidence points to the Dark One storing magic to use in stealing from a god or goddess.
