16. A GUIDED TOUR OF HEAVEN
Let me introduce myself. I am a travel agent, and I think you need a holiday. Well, I'm agent for what is the most exciting, delightful, fascinating, refreshing vacation of them all, and moreover one you can well afford. This brochure gives you all the necessary information.
No, I'm not joking, or pulling your leg. I couldn't be more serious. What's on offer is nothing less than a guided tour of Heaven itself. Satisfaction guaranteed, or money back.
In all ages and lands people have believed that there's another land, a happy and healthy land which cures and reverses all the wretchedness in this one. There were two snags, however: visas were issued to very few applicants, and even they had to wait a lifetime for them.
I have wonderful news for you. These snags have now been overcome. Visas have been abolished, and this wonderful country lies wide open to all visitors from one-day excursionists to immigrants. True, there are conditions of entry, but they are very easily complied with.
Of course all this seems too good to be true. Increasing numbers of people imagine that Heaven is a fictional wonderland like Utopia. Hard-headed, perhaps mockingly, they want to know in what direction this country lies, and how far away it is, and precisely what vehicles are lined up to take one there, and so on. To them I say: read this brochure carefully, and you will find clear answers to all your questions.
This tour has been set up to escort the members of the party to Heaven and, once there, to arrange an exploration of its topography and notable sights. To guide and encourage us on the spot there will be experts to point out what to look for. What we make of it all will, of course, be up to us.
I'll assume you have booked up for the tour.
It has five stages which you should be quite clear about from the start.
First, you note and comply with the simple and far from onerous conditions of entry into Heaven. Next, you make the journey, by the vehicle of your choice. Then, having arrived on time (we make a point of punctuality), you look around and get to know every aspect of the place. Now comes the great moment of the tour. You, yes you personally are invited to the palace to meet the King. Finally, you decide, in the light of all your impressions and discoveries, whether to put in for regular citizenship, or to return home for good. To those customers who elect to come back we shall be putting the question: "Is it really home that you come back to or is it mere lodgings, and is it really for good and not bad? What about booking up now for all our guided tours to Heaven?"
Let us go, in a little more detail, into these five stages.
Conditions Of Entry
Strictly speaking, adults are not admitted. However, they are allowed in so long as they let go and revert to childhood.
