At the fairgrounds, the parking lot was near empty, as only the vendors were there currently. Both Barrett and Rhys made short work of unloading our supplies and hauling them to our section. After ascertaining what would be the best time to retrieve us, they left. Willa took a deep breath.

“Wow. Just wow. That man is all man. And he’s sweet too. He’s a veterinarian, did you know that?”

“Yes, I did know that,” I snickered. “Do we have a little crush?”

She fanned herself. “We have a little lust is what we have.”

“Ha! I hear you sister.”

The quiet of the morning set-up soon gave way to the bustle of eager crafters and shoppers barreling in. The booths that we had set up so diligently were dismantled and put back together repeatedly throughout the morning and afternoon as shoppers lifted, examined, and weighed their options.

Mara and Olivia came by at lunchtime with fresh sandwiches and sports drinks. I gave Olivia the bracelet with the owl charm that I had made for her, and she put it on immediately.

She fussed with it, it was a new sensation, but she liked the tinkle the charm made as it bumped against the links of the delicate bracelet. Olivia bent over to examine the other charms and Mara bought her the little cat as well. They walked off to browse the other booths, Olivia jingling her charms as they went.

Willa was down to less than half her stock by two o’clock and we were looking forward to closing up and going home in another couple of hours. We had taken turns going to the lunch hut and perusing the other booths.

I met Minty, surprised to find she was closer to my age than Willa’s. Her work was fabulous. I decided on a pen and ink for the picture of Rhys’s twins and forwarded the picture. She estimated it would be ready in six to twelve weeks, closer to six if she could swing it. I could pick it up or she could have it framed and delivered directly to Rhys. I chose the direct route, I wanted to make sure it got to him, even if we, as a couple, never went anywhere.

I sold all the children’s line save the one sample I kept back to showcase for prospective online purchasers, and of course the bracelet and charm I’d made for Amelie and had put on display.

An entire package of business cards disappeared into patrons’ wallets and pockets, and I did well with both my galaxy and fire lines. The jewelry case would be considerably lighter on the way home than it was on the way here.

It was a wonderful day, but I was just as excited about my art commission for Rhys. As soon as I got my hands on the perfect picture of Olivia, I was going to get Minty to do the same for Mara and Zale.

At five-thirty on the dot Rhys and Barrett came rolling through the tent toward us. We were mostly all packed up, tired, and more than ready to go home.
