“Oh, Daddy.” Erica touched his signature. An image of him, blond hair and laughing blue eyes, appeared in her mind. She remembered his tireless energy. Her mother had been dark haired like Ellyn with a warm voice and gentle arms. She remembered how God had always been with her parents.

There was a soft chair set directly in a patch of morning sunshine. Erica took the Bible there, folding her legs beneath her as she found the book of Ezekiel. The entire sixth chapter was underlined. She stared at the black marks a moment before reading the words Ellyn had written at the bottom of her letters.
