Reflection – This works very well in mixture with refraction. Whether you use a pool of water or another reflective surface is up to you. The effect with an easy reflection will be that the reflected photograph may be up.

Background

Forget about the background, and your picture will fall flat. Avoid ugly shapes within the background that draw the eyes far away from the Lens Ball itself. The background is controlled by the nature of the lens you use, including focal length or width.

Long focal length – The lenses should be over 50mm, and the most recommended lens is a macro lens. When using this form of lens, you will be compressing the scene and concentrating it on a small area of the background, while the bigger scene is displayed inside the ball. Using an aperture massive enough to blur out the background is a good answer for doing away with the background out of your body. And a moderate change of aperture can change the background, without overly converting the photograph inside the crystal ball.
