Wrong: Improper clip with the rope exiting on the wall side of the carabiner.
To make a correct clip, observe how the carabiner naturally hangs along the wall surface and estimate how the quickdraw is likely to move as you climb past it. By visualizing this, you will be able to determine the proper way to clip the rope so that the lead end exits the outside of the carabiner. A good belayer will keep a keen eye and quickly notify you if she observes a backward clip. If possible, try to correct the clip before climbing higher.
