Luke returned, tossing a box of condoms on the ottoman next to her empty glass. Penny, nearly naked and resting on a pool of navy satin, was a mesmerizing sight. Her breasts, obscured only by a long wisp of pale hair on one side, were perfectly shaped, and his fingers twitched to tease their rosy tips.

She looked up, silver flecks reflecting in the sapphire depths of her eyes. Her skin was flushed. Skin he couldn’t wait to touch. The setting sun sprayed golden rays through the wall-to-wall windows facing the lake and cast a soft hue over the room. Perfect for what Luke had in mind.

″Lie back.” His voice was more coarse than he intended, ready to deliver the pleasure he couldn’t wait to bring her. Penny complied, reclining onto a pillow, and Luke sank down next to her and brought his lips to hers. Her hand curled around the back of his neck and pulled him closer, drawing him in with her tempting tongue. Luke increased the pressure of his kiss, but it did nothing to satisfy the need for her running through his veins.

Breathless, he tore away but stilled only an inch from her face. Her lips were pink and parted and he descended for more, one taste not nearly enough. Finally, when her moan tore through him, he pulled away again to enjoy her heady gaze. His finger trailed down her skin, tracing from her collarbone, down the valley between her breasts, and came to rest at her navel.

″Luke,” she implored, her hips lifting off the couch.

He splayed a hand on her stomach and leaned forward to nip the bare skin of her shoulder with his teeth before pressing a kiss to it. Working his way slowly toward her neck, Luke only made it to the delicate skin inside her collarbone when she reached up and her fingers skimmed his chest. Her light touch was delicate and teasing. With a moan, his head fell into the hollow by her head and he grit his teeth as the sensation shot through him.

Luke caught her wrists in his and pulled them away, sitting up again. “No more of that right now,” he said hoarsely. “Let me take care of you.”

″And I’ll let you, once I’ve had my fill.” She had a devilishly wicked gleam in her eyes. She leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his chest, then another, nibbling a nipple with her teeth as she looked up at him through her pale lashes. God, she was a tease. Penny hadn’t revealed this playful side of herself—at least not to this extent—in front of him before today. But the connection between them had altered perceptibly since he arrived on her doorstep this morning. And now that things had shifted, Luke hoped she would always be so at ease with him.

Penny kissed her way over to his other nipple and drew it roughly between her teeth. He sucked in a deep breath. It would take all his strength to stay true to his pledge to take care of her.
