He wished he had a number to call. It frustrated him immensely to sit at his desk till midnight, waiting for the phone to ring, when he had finally obtained the information.

At long last, the instrument jangled. He snatched it up. "I've got him!" "In your possession?"

"What? No, no. I mean, I know where he is!"

"It is about time. Give me the address."

That flustered him. "Well, uh, it's not an address, exactly— it's a planet. I mean, Feighan's on the planet Actu."

The sigh came clearly through the wire. "Inadequate. I trust you are aware that the surface area of Actu is rather larger than that of Earth?" "Uh… well, I hadn't thought of it in those terms, but now that you—" "We have a small base there. Devise a means of locating Feighan—without delay!—and put a Flinger on standby to transport us there. Be ready to depart on a moment's notice. Is that understood?"

"Yes." His palms were sweating again, and he hated it. "Yes, it is." The dead line hummed to itself.

A Flinger on standby… He took a deep breath. Harry Lipsiento. He'll do what he's told—he, at least, is programmed correctly.
