People never seem to get tired of a live demonstration of the human TGU. Regardless if I say “don’t try this at home,” guys don’t listen. If you’re going to do it anyway, you might as well learn how to do it right.

1) Sit on the floor and have your lifting partner stand next to you, feet together, on the side of your working arm.

2) Have your partner bend at the waist and put her forearms under her knees, lightly gripping her wrists. Insert your hand, thumb up, between the upper arm and chest, securing your grip on the far arm, above the biceps and close to the armpit.

3) Your partner now prepares to be lifted by further crossing her arms under her legs until she securely grips her elbows with her hands. As your partner tightens up, place the palm of your free hand on her elbow closest to you.
