Tell it to a Tree

THERE WERE TIMES when I was playing poorly, getting upset, and making bad decisions. When I recognized that was happening, I’d have to vent my frustration and give myself a pep talk to try to get things back on track.

What I did was walk into the woods and tell it to a tree. I’d say something like, “What in the heck are you doing? You could do better than this! Come on, let’s get it going, and let’s start right now!” That was the gist of it but my language was a little more colorful.

I had to bring myself back to one shot at a time. I’d focus on that and not think about anything else.

So far trees have never talked back to me, but I’m not taking any chances. For that reason I try to keep my drives out of the woods.
