I never thought Iâd be so happy to leave a cruise and return to real life. The ride home in the van is very quiet. I guess excessive amounts of food, drinks, and drama can really wear you out.
Tyler attempted to talk to me, but we never had a chance to be alone. I was polite and cheerful, despite being irritated with the Leslie situation. Itâs fine, and Iâm fine. What Tyler does and with whom is no concern of mine. I donât even know what time Leslie came back to the cabin, but she was noticeably in a good mood this morning. It might have been an act for my benefit, and kudos to her for trying to keep the façade going. If it was a façade?
As soon as we arrive at Clintâs house, everyone makes a mad dash to exit the van. I quickly grab my suitcase and give Caroline a hug.
âBye, everyone. It was a blast,â I call.
âIâll be sending out some last-minute details for the shower,â Erica reminds me.
âSounds good. I canât wait.â
I move quickly to my car, which remains nameless as of right now. Of course this will probably change once Tyler decides which name fits its soul.
As soon as Iâm safely inside, I pull out of Clintâs driveway, waving at everyone. I look back in my rearview mirror to see Tyler watching me drive away. I let out a sigh.
Admittedly, Iâm torn. I canât deny that Iâm physically attracted to Tyler. Iâm just not sure thatâs enough, especially if heâs also attracted to Leslie.
I plug my phone in and call Parker. She answers on the second ring.
âIâve been on the edge of my seat waiting for you to return. Tell me everything.â
âHello, to you too,â I reply. âYou go first. Anything new?â
She sighs. âUnfortunately not, itâs been a quiet weekend. The good news is tomorrow is Monday and Iâll be able to see my man.â
I laugh. âIâm assuming you mean Mr. Brady.â
âOf course,â she exclaims, like Iâve completely lost my mind.
âDid anything happen at the office on Friday?â
I listen as she tells me about Shannonâs latest antics. âSheâs been saying things like, âWhen Iâm running this office,â and âIâll do it this way when Iâm the director.ââ
âWe have to prepare ourselves for the possibility,â I remind her. âIt could happen.â
âNo way. Spencer would never do that.â
I smile to myself. She makes it sound like she knows him so well.
âThe job is yours, Tori.â
âParker, you donât know that for sure,â I remind her. âI havenât even spoken with him about it yet.â
âI know, but heâs been observing everyone. Heâll see youâre the best woman for the job.â
I sigh. Thereâs no point in arguing with her.
âAnyway, why are we talking about work when you should be telling me every detail of the cruise?â
I exhale before I delve into my weekend. I start by telling her about Rachel and Christian.
âOh no, thatâs bad,â she exclaims.
âI know,â I wail. âIâm in a hard spot because I feel bad about not being honest with Caroline, even though itâs not my info to share.
