Elfaria had been the one to suggest the mark. Sheâd said that it was to prevent anyone from misusing the Blue Knightâs name, but there was actually more to it: to make citizens question corporations that transported to remote regions yet didnât have a mark. This led to an assumption that the corporationâs internal situation made it impossible to apply for one. Therefore, the larger the corporation, the more they had to apply for certification.
It was essentially making use of Koutarouâs fame to force a new standard on the transport industryâand without creating new laws, at that. It was ultimately just DKI Logistics demanding that its subcontractors confirm the legality of their business. That way, there was no need to go through Parliament and nobody would complain. It was a very easy way to achieve the same effect as changing the law.
âI wouldnât dare. You are only looking at the results, Layous-sama.â
âLiar! Your face is telling a different story!â
âIt happened to lead to an improvement in the transport industry, but itâs certainly not something I was aiming for.â
Elfaria looked like she was having the time of her life, wearing an adorable, child-like smile. Koutarou felt like he was talking to a friend around his age. CeilÄshu was looking at the two with half admiration, half exasperation.
I am amazed that Her Majesty thought this far ahead...
CeilÄshu wasnât confident that sheâd be able to proceed with things as effectively as Elfaria. Even with a powerful card like the Blue Knight in hand, she wouldnât be able to use it that way. CeilÄshu once again felt that she wasnât suited for politics, and that giving up her right to the throne was the correct call.
Besides... Layous-sama is amazing, noticing all that just from looking at Her Majestyâs face...
There was a strange bond between Elfaria and Koutarou that didnât allow anyone to step in between them. Koutarou wasnât looking at her the way that he looked at a coworker or superior. Nor was it like he was looking at an enemy or rival. CeilÄshu struggled to describe it, but it was because of that bond that they were in this situation. It was completely different from the normal dynamic between a knight and empress.
âI wonder...â said Koutarou.
âIt really was by chance. And it certainly isnât anything bad,â Elfaria insisted.
âThatâs... I guess thatâs true.â
Koutarou wasnât actually angry. As long as PAFâs profits were returned to the world, it was necessary to confirm the legality of the chosen method. He was simply complaining about her hidden agenda taking him by surprise.
âNext time, talk to me about it first rather than springing it on me.â
âIt truly was just by chance.â
âIf it wasnât for that awfully cutesy face, I would have believed you.â
âOh my.â
Elfaria would only show herself like that to him. It was different from when she was with Theia, and if there were a few more people around, she wouldnât act like that even in front of Koutarou. CeilÄshu could only hope that he realized it.
âOh well, you really are just.
