Looking back on who I was when we started in our relationship, I am amazed. We were so different, even opposite in many ways. He loved being in front of people, talking. I preferred to be in the background. It was not that I did not have ideas or insight that could have added to the discussion or conversation; I just did not feel the need to speak up often.

That is until I realized how my life experiences—my pain, my broken marriage, my loss of family, my story—can help other people. The first time I told my story, I was petrified. Then I was asked to tell it again and again. And people would come up to me with tears in their eyes, saying how I had given them hope by what I said. I realized quickly that many people were living my story as well. Recognizing that people needed to know that there is hope and healing after adultery, regardless if you are the hurting or hurtful partner—that is when I discovered my voice.

Watching her speak before a group is really an amazing sight. She speaks with such passion and caring that endears her to audiences quickly. When she speaks about my affair, her heartbreak, and our journey, she is fearless. People who knew her before are struck by the power and presence she has when she stands up to speak. The transformation in her is truly remarkable. She has chosen to turn her pain into profit for others.
