Chapter 18 Anteagen

Rick recognized the Captain Jones of building security. Rick moved forward, and as he did, the guards got out of his way. As he passed the Captain, he said, "Where is Tim?"

The Captain fell in step beside him and said, “He’s down in the bunker with the CEO.”

"Hobbs is here?" Rick wanted to talk to Tim to find out what happened to Hobbs, but it seemed he didn't have to go that far.

“Yes Sir. As soon as the attack force entered our airspace, he came here and evacuated the Admin building.”

"Take me to him." The security surrounded Rick, and they all headed to the lift. Rick looked around for TT and saw he was still standing by the shuttle. "Go get him."

Without a word, one of the security officers ran back and grabbed TT by the front of his flight suit and dragged him forward to join the rest of the group. "We leave no one behind," said Rick to answer the questioning looks of the security officers surrounding him.

Their faces went blank, and Rick no longer felt the need to explain himself. Any questions he had would have to wait until he could talk to Hobbs.

They all filed into the lift, and the Captain opened a panel and used a key. As the lift went down, Rick wondered why Hobbs would come here. Then the thought struck him. In times of stress, people went to places familiar to them. He didn't know how long Hobbs had been in charge of the Legal department, but it was as long as Rick could remember. Hobbs probably knew every centimeter of this building. Rick felt at a disadvantage. He didn’t even know that there was a bunker in this building.

The doors opened, and everyone filed out of the lift. Rick was taken to a security desk and made to sign in. However, TT was not allowed past the security desk, so Rick turned and said, "Stay here. I'll be back as soon as I can, then we can get out of here."

“Yes Sir.”

They went down a sloping hallway that ended with a vault door that looked like it belonged on the Treasury. Security opened the door, and Rick went inside. He was shocked to see that the room was just like the war room in the Admin building.

Hobbs was standing in the center of the room next to the holographic table. Rick walked over and stood next to him.

The CEO sighed heavily, as if he was preparing himself for the bad news. He turned to look at Rick. For a moment, his face was blank. Then he brightened up and said, "Rick!" then his look changed. "What are you doing here?"

“I came to give you a briefing on my mission.”

Hobbs cocked his head and winced. "If you came here in person, then something went wrong." This was not a question.

"Sir, there have been some setbacks. I'm here to inform you about what we are doing to handle it."

Hobbs sighed again, “Well, this would be the day for it.
