Chapter Eleven

I woke up alone and had to look around for a bit to get my bearings. I wasn’t in my room. When the previous night came back to me, my entire body blushed. I went hot all over. I stretched and felt a bit of discomfort, but not to the point I was going to complain or anything. I got out of bed, found my pants, gathered up my lantern and left for my own room. I needed to wash the smell of sex off me and get fresh clothing.

Joey stepped out of his room, looked me up and down, winked and gave me a sexy grin, and silently headed for the kitchen. I rushed to my own room, since I finally remembered Arnie saying he wanted to leave first thing to get antibiotics from the bunker. How long had I slept? I grabbed a shirt and my boots and headed for the bathroom. I quick wash with a wet cloth and I was dressed and moving quickly for the kitchen. I could hear Arnie’s voice, so maybe I hadn’t held him up too long.

I kind of slid and skidded into the kitchen to find Arnie, Sadie, Joey and Rhett sitting at the table. Sadie’s lips quirked upwards and she silently got up to get my breakfast. I wasn’t sure what to do with myself now that I was here. No one had gone into “morning after” protocol with me, and if I’d had a sign on my forehead that read “Luke got laid last night” I couldn’t have felt more conspicuous. Rhett slid the chair next to him out and patted the seat. I gratefully sat in it, flinched, and settled a little easier. Joey snickered, the little jerk.

“There’s some ointment in that bunker you might want to grab, too, Arnie,” he said. “It helps me when Master is a little rough.”

I didn’t just blush, I flamed. Sadie put a plate before me and I ducked my head over it, refusing to look at anyone. I didn’t even notice what I was eating, just started shoveling food in my mouth. Rhett slid his chair closer to mine and I felt his arm come around my shoulders and a kiss pressed to my cheek.

“Don’t pay Joey any mind, Sweetheart. I’ve seen him on days when he couldn’t sit, at all.”

That didn’t help. Damn! Did everyone know about last night? And did I really just say that out loud? I groaned to myself and hung my head until my chin almost touched my chest. If this was the result, I wasn’t sure I ever wanted to have sex again. Laughter around the table made me realize I’d muttered that out loud, too.

“We’ve all been there, Luke,” Sadie said with a smile. “Jim could be an animal in bed. He could flat pound me into the mattress, doesn’t surprise me his son can do the same.”

“Mom! Eww!” Rhett looked a little green. “Stop!”

“Just how do you think you got here, young’un?
