Some of them agreed on the condition that I relay a message they really wanted to tell their owners, or in exchange for me curing an injury or illness. And so, they were all more than happy to work for me. A doctor who could speak to animals...

Yes, I was a regular Doctor Dolittle.

Some time ago, that name was abridged to “Doctor Doritoru” because they figured the original would be too hard to pronounce for Japanese children, but it’s actually “Do-little.” Though, the Japanese spelling wasn’t always consistent. Then, I realized something.

Speaking of “Doolittle,” I needed to have some bombers. I couldn’t just load a bunch of military bombers onto an aircraft carrier, but I needed something... And that’s when I scouted the crows.

They wouldn’t run away even if you got close enough to talk to them, and they were great at intimidation, with all that creepiness and intensity. Plus, they ate just about anything, so providing incentives would be a piece of cake. They were perfect!

Animals that only ate bugs or living creatures, or were hard to find, or didn’t let you get close enough to talk to them, could be a real pain to work with. Although, it would have been cooler if I could have gotten birds of prey like eagles, hawks, or falcons. But this time, I was going for the intimidation factor rather than coolness, so it was fine.
