Still naked, sitting beside Cody, she finished her licking her fingers after chowing down fried chicken, fresh rolls and fruit. She reached into the basket and pulled out a container of cookies she’d made just that morning. She handed an oatmeal-raisin to Cody.

He held her hand and nibbled his dessert. “I think I had the best dessert before our meal.”

She laughed. “I’d say we both had more dessert than we bargained for.” Good god, she was still humming inside. When he got to his feet and began dressing, she did the same. In short order, they were packed and mounted.

She reached out. “That was wonderful, Cody. I love it when we ride your ranch together.”

He grinned when she shifted in the saddle. “A bit sore, sugar?”

Ariana groaned. “A bit,” she admitted. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to admit that his little spanking had added an edge to their lovemaking she’d never thought possible.

Cody reached over and pulled her from the saddle and into his arms. “There.”

Laying across his lap, in his arms, felt wonderful. She lifted a brow. “Don’t you go getting any ideas, Cody. I’m quite orgasmed out. At least until tonight!”

He laughed, the sound rich and full. “Oh, I always have ideas with you. But don’t worry. I think I’m quite satisfied for the moment. Except for this.” He tipped his head down and kissed gently. “There. That will hold me for now.”

He urged his gelding on with a soft cluck. Her mare followed and Ariana, though jostled, as the horses headed home, had to admit, she felt safe and cared for. And maybe loved. She wasn’t sure what Cody felt but she was pretty sure she’d fallen for her cowboy. Stuart had done her a big favor when he’d dumped her. She only hoped that maybe she had a future with Cody.
