Chapter 21

The Other Side

Alexandra’s mind was racing she couldn’t help but think if she had made the wrong decision, but she sharply snapped out of it. She knew her doubting herself would only slow them down what didn’t help was they all depended on her for their survival.

“ Alexandra, do you have any clue to where we are going?” Brooklyn asked in a worried tone.

But she didn’t answer it was as if she wasn’t even in the same room as them, but she knew exactly where they were going.

The basement stretched out the full length and width of The Guard.

Greyson’s head wasn’t in the right place either but then again none of them were. “Quickly, grab the candle stick that’s attach to the wall. I will meet you on the other side.” Alexandra spoke in a hurried tone.

“You’re leaving us.” Greyson spoke bluntly. “How do we know this isn’t a trap?” Alexandra stopped walking and turned around. Isabella had already pulled the candle stick which revealed a tunnel. It looks as if it could be a murder passage Isabella thought.

“She trusts me, whether you do or not I don’t care I’m doing this for her. So, stay or go see if I care.” Alexandra angrily whispered while pointing at Isabella.

Tears were forming in Isabella’s eyes, but she wasn’t going to let the rest of them realise but she wasn’t sure whether to trust Alexandra or not she is the king’s daughter.

“Fine.” Greyson spoke in a hurt tone. Just like that Alexandra vanished shocking both Greyson and Brooklyn but not Isabella she knew Alexandra would come back.

The tunnel was covered in mud.

“I guess this is a bad time to mention I’m claustrophobic.” Brooklyn’s voice echoed through. “You’ll be fine.” Greyson said while crawling through the tunnel.

You’ll be fine you’ll be fine Brooklyn repeated in her head as she got onto her knees, she quickly changed her mind and jumped up.

“Brooklyn, close your eyes and follow my voice.” Greyson whispered.

Brooklyn followed his voice and kept her eyes shut tight.

“You’re on a beach drinking a margarita.” Greyson spoke in a soothing tone.

“I’ve never had a margarita.” Isabella added. Greyson grabbed a hold of Brooklyn’s hand he could tell this was her worst fear, but he kept reassuring her that they would make it out alive.

“Open your eyes.” He spoke softly to Brooklyn. She opened them streaks of light were peering into the tunnel.

“Quickly.” Alexandra spoke in a rushed tone while helping them out of the tunnel.

“You can ride horses right.” Alexandra inquired. “Sort off.” Greyson answered.

Alexandra sprinted back to where she had come from. Brooklyn could still hear the marching in the background that had echoed the halls of the guard.

Isabella looked around the corner which revealed one of the training centres. Boys and girls not older than 12 were learning to fight just the thought of the blues children, being turned into killing machines saddened them all.

“Better too not think about.” Greyson whispered. Isabella turned back around to her surprise Alexandra had come back with two horses.
