HOOT GIBSON PORTRAIT. This movie star collectors’ card from the 1920s highlights one of Universal Pictures’ most popular Western stars, Hoot Gibson. Carl Laemmle of Universal put Gibson in action-packed two-reelers, like The Night Riders (1916). Throughout the 1920s, Gibson was one of the most popular heroes of the silver screen.

HOOT GIBSON. On view here is Western star Hoot Gibson’s home at 814 North Bedford Drive, Beverly Hills. In the 1920s, Nebraska-born Edmund “Hoot” Gibson (1892–1962) was one of Hollywood’s top Western stars. A rodeo champion and stuntman before entering the pictures, Gibson later ran a rodeo-ranch in nearby Bouquet Canyon. His best-loved films include Sure Fire, The Ramblin’ Kid, Flaming Frontier, Trigger Tricks, Danger Ahead, and Long, Long Trail.
