GOEBBELS DELIVERS SPEECH TO BERLIN CROWD

Nazi propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels urges Germans to boycott Jewish-owed business. He defends the boycott as a legitimate response to the anti-German “atrocity propaganda” being spread abroad by “international Jewry.” The boycott was unsuccessful but it led to a series of laws in quick succession that robbed Jews of their rights. They were excluded from the civil service, law, journalism and entertainment. It was the beginning of a process which was to lead to the killing of Jews in concentration camps. By 1945 nearly six million European Jews had died as a result of the regime.
