I sense, although don't ask Pascal outright, that a family camping trip wouldn't be his number one idea of a holiday either. We're not hunting anything, he can't make all the decisions about the day's itinerary and he is missing Elsea. Nonetheless, Pascal subjects us to one more night of camping before we finally return to civilisation.

After breakfast we disassemble the tent; once again the children appear to help us – ahem. We pile the tent and our luggage into the van. Within seconds of closing the doors, Pascal's family have crowded around us to kiss us goodbye. Veronique implores Pascal to 'pop' by and see her in Normandy. Carlos promises to send his big brother a piece of 'essential' software for his computer and Manuelle tells us that the route to her house is 'très rapide' from where we live.
