THE VOICE FROM BEYOND

It has long been theorized that spirits stay behind for a reason. Many think this is due to some earthly attachment or fond memories of a place or past event. Others feel that sudden death leaves a soul trapped in a state of perpetual confusion. And numerous people believe that unfinished business creates an atmosphere conducive to hauntings. Whatever the reason may be, this particular spirit has decided to stay on in the afterlife in his former home. While it is not possible to know exactly who haunts a location, it’s possible that the owner who lived there the longest may be the residing spirit.

The property was first purchased from the U.S. government in July 1886 and changed hands many times over the next seventeen years. Finally, in 1903, a home was built on the property. When she looked up, she noticed a white-colored undefined shape move quickly right to left across the upper staircase landing. Employees would witness both phantoms many times over the years. Sometimes employees would see things out of the corners of their eyes in other areas of the house. Whatever was being seen did not frighten anyone, but rather became an accepted fixture in the home. People grew used to the strong presence.

Several years after moving in, the owner spoke with the prior family that had lived in the home for quite some time. They told her that they had seen the ghost of a nun in the house often throughout the years. After doing some
