Gillywater Cocktail
Gillywater is a wizarding beverage that is presumably made from Gillyweed and possibly plain water. The magical drink appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Rumor has it that this Gillywater recipe is related to the real gillyflower (carnation), which is seen in winemaking recipes from the 1700s and is said to taste of spice and cloves. But this fact is certain, Gillywater is related to the magical plant gillyweed which Harry Potter consumes to win the second round of the Triwizard Tournament.
According to the potter books, gillyweed is described as a pack of slimy, grey-green rat tails, capable of stimulating temporary growth of gills and webbed fingers to help a wizard survive for extended hours underwater. Muggles may never lay hands on an actual gillyweed, but this recipe is as close as they can get to the magical cocktail. This recipe starts off with an alcoholic base of gin, giving it a tonic style of cocktail refreshing, faintly bitter with some dash of herbs and a cucumber garnish. Using mint as the ideal herb, it incorporates coconut water for a slick, pulpy saltwater taste.
