"Trolls!" a man screamed as a spear ripped through his spleen. The wound was grave, and the troll behind him knew the man wouldn't live long.
Zashi Damari slipped through the streets of Old Town, with her twenty fighters just behind her. There were small homes at each of her sides and a market made barren by the darkness. She tried to see how she could inflict the most damage upon the town.
"Go in every home, and kill any you see," Zashi ordered and turned back to the main road. "You five, with me. We'll strike the walls and kill whatever soldiers we may."
The trolls were already within the homes of the humans before Zashi had went five feet. She heard the screams of women behind her, and the cries of babies. For a moment, the female troll almost wanted to stop the attack and turn away, for the ruthless execution of civilians did not please her. It was not the troll way, nor was it Suliya's way, but despite what her heart told her, she knew what she had to do.
Zashi continued on through the barren streets, with the screams becoming a kind of melody to her. A dark, terrifying melody. She brought her men just past the road and turned to the right when a group of heavily armed soldiers nearly crashed into her.
"Get them!" one of the soldiers shouted and came at the group. He slashed one way, then another, his sharp sword missing the trolls by inches. Behind him, a dozen soldiers clashed with her fighters.
Zashi jabbed her spear forward and found an opening in the soldier's armor, squeezing her spear into his stomach. She didn't stay there, and quickly pulled her weapon back, the double bladed feature of it coming in handy when it lodged itself into another man.
The armor the humans wore was thick, and could take a few slashes of a sword. However the trolls used strong spears, and the sharp edges of them were forged carefully. The spears always found their mark.
"Ring the alarm!" another man ordered loudly, but he too caught a spear in his shoulder. The man cried out in obvious pain, yet he hardly slowed. He pulled the spear, pushing it clear through his body, and when the troll carrying the weapon was before him, he slashed into its exposed stomach.
"They can die, just like any other creature!" that same man shouted. He pushed the injured troll away and leaped atop another. His blade found its mark, this time thrusting through the fallen troll's shoulder, nearest its heart.
Zashi growled in anger at the sight of her friends being killed. She jumped several feet forward and launched her spear into the soldier who was atop one of her own. It caught him through his neck and sent him convulsing backwards.
She didn't stop there. Zashi withdrew her crossbow and coated each of her bolts in poison. Without any hesitation, she let the bolts fly and was glad the majority of them struck true.
