Once I was speaking to an old friend who was describing the many years of depression he had endured in the past, and how he was slowly clawing his way out. He said, with an almost stunned look on his face, that the last time he had felt this free and happy was when he was 6 years old.

Sad, isn’t it? But he was onto something: when it comes to happiness, children serve as the best example. They live in the moment, they express themselves and their desires freely, they love wholeheartedly and they run around the world with the energy and vitality only matched by adult athletes.
