Moorland’s head throbbed as the first vestiges of sunlight washed through his windows and he reached for his wife, her cold and empty pillow was a sharp reminder of his reality.

He kept his eyes closed as the throbbing intensified and tried to force his thoughts to before Macy had fallen ill, when there was still the promise of a good life for her in his hands.

That was done now though, he had to remind himself of that truth even if every fiber of his being was drawn to getting back in the Dive. Was it really becoming a problem or was it simply his grief playing itself out?

Was it so horrible that he wanted to spend time with her, time that he’d been robbed of. To have her in his presence; to see her, touch her and smell her again to be close to her essence, was this such a crime?

Rin tore apart his blinds letting through sharp rays of sunlight and his thoughts were quickly blotted out.

He groaned in protest as Rin shuffled around him, “Forgive me Master Ohms.” she said sardonically and eyeing him with concern.

“Mhhm.” he sighed, “You’re forgiven if that’s coffee I smell.”

“Indeed, it is.” she said sitting a cup on his nightstand.

“I take we’re not running today?” Rin asked.

“No, we are not.” he replied taking that first cherished sip of her own special blend.

“How are we feeling?” she asked pointedly. “Your vitals are wavering.” Rin added.

“Given the extended use yesterday, they’ll be a little off. Did you remember to bring my medicine?” he asked.

“To your left.” she paused before adding. “So, it’s to be expected then?” she said.

“What is it Rin, I can hear it in your voice?” Moorland sighed.

“There are things we must discuss.” she told him.

“Let's get on with it then.” he said waving his hand and downed the medication with the hot coffee.

“I’ve taken ample security measures, but unless you let me hire more bodies there is only so much that can be done.” Rin said.

“I understand, and I appreciate your concern I do, but unless there is an imminent threat, I don’t want to tip my hand with how revolutionary this will be.”

“I want it noted that I do not agree with this course of action.” she said sternly.

“It is duly noted Rin.” he told her seemingly unphased by the very real danger he was facing.

“Respectfully Master Ohms you are a brilliant man, but you are making an idiotic mistake. There are people who will want you dead before this technology becomes mainstreamed, and you do not see the threats the way I do.”

“Like Blu?” he scoffed. I don’t believe she is someone we need to be overly concerned with.” he said.

“I actually agree with you on that, I looked into the girl’s background, and she seems to be telling the truth. It is not her I am concerned about; I’ve known people to be killed for a lot less than what you are trying to do.” Rin told him.

He raised an eyebrow, “Yesterday she was a street urchin, what happened while I was asleep?” he asked.
