Figure 16.2 The mouth reflexes.

When opening the mouth, it’s best not to put a foot into it!

Insight

The mouth takes in new ideas and provides nourishment for the whole. Problems arise when set opinions, a closed mind, the inability to take in new ideas or keeping the mouth shut get in the way. So look out for patches of hard skin over the mouth reflexes.

Spend extra time massaging the mouth reflexes (Chapter 22, step 55) for any mouth disorders, such as halitosis, to replace festering words with greater understanding; for bleeding gums, to restore confidence in the decisions made; for cerebral palsy, for a more lively exchange of energy, no matter how bad things may appear to be; for cold sores, to bring some warmth into conversations; for epilepsy, to prevent ‘throwing a fit’ or ‘biting the tongue’ when there’s a misunderstanding or being misunderstood; for gum disorders, for the confidence to make up one’s own mind; for neuralgia, to ease the anguish of rejection or ridicule when ‘speaking out of turn’; for strokes, to bring to an end the self-inflicted pressure of trying to meet unrealistically high expectations; for stuttering, to boost confidence in sharing unbelievable ideas; for tooth problems, to take away the agony and pain of decision making; and for tinnitus, to alert the mind to messages from the inner voice. Massaging these reflexes helps the recipient speak up and share their truth, without necessarily agreeing and without fear of what others might have to say on the matter.
