Miscellaneous:

• Baby seat or bouncer: You need a place (besides a crib) where you can safely put your baby down.

• Baby carrier: This is a great, hands-free way to tote your child around, and an essential piece of equipment if you have multiple children.

• Mobile for the crib: To this day, our two-year-old loves his mobile.

• Baby activity seat: These are great for early learning, and to give your arms a break.

ITEMS YOU MAY WANT TO WAIT ON BUYING:

• Bureau for the nursery: Only buy one if it fits and you think you will use it for clothes later on. Most changing tables have plenty of room for baby clothes, and if you have a closet you can use that space too.

• Baby swing: We spent a ton of money on the latest and greatest swing, only to find out that both of our children hated it.

• Formula: If you’re not breastfeeding, you’ll want to wait to find out which formula your baby can tolerate before stocking up.

• Baby bath: We found the sink was easier than a baby bath; you might want to try out your own sink before investing in a bath.

• High chair: You won’t need this until they are able to sit on their own. We got the one that attaches to a normal chair to reserve space. Warning: with the food remnants and overall wear and tear, we did end up destroying the chair

• Pacifiers: Some babies like them and some don’t. They will give you some at the hospital to try out.

• Cloth to put over your shopping cart: We got one and never used it.

• Mirror to hang on your backseat to see your baby: Again, we got one and never used it.

• Pack ’n Play: If you plan on traveling or want a second place for your baby to nap this will come in handy.

• Diaper pail: We bought the latest and greatest model, and the changing area still stank. You may as well save your money and just get a regular trashcan with regular trash bags. It’s a losing battle.

• Baby gate: Get one if you have stairs, but otherwise, you probably don’t need it.

• Walker: Our son could never figure out how to go forward and ended up stuck and upset. Total fail.
