Chapter Eleven

I knew I needed to do something special for Ashley after I saw how down she was feeling about herself at the fundraiser. Thankfully, this is where having two sisters comes in. When I told Veronica and Beth about my plans, they said there’s apparently this thing called a babymoon. It’s basically like a honeymoon, but only a vacation before the baby arrives. I laughed while they were explaining, and asked if people really did this shit or they were just messing with me. I googled it when I didn’t believe them and found out not only was is true, but some places actually specialized in this shit.

I didn’t want to take her somewhere too public. Having just won the Super Bowl, I didn’t want unwanted attention. Taking a little bit of everything from all these places’ websites to make my own private getaway for the two of us, I decided to rent a villa on a private island in the Bahamas.

It didn’t dawn on me to check with her doctor until after I made all the reservations. When I called his office I prayed like hell he was going to tell me it was okay. Turns out, I’m okay as long as I take her before the third trimester. I had no idea what the hell the third trimester was, so again, this was when having sisters was beneficial. Everything was okay since I wanted to take her right away. I’m glad I decided that getting out of here while it’s cold was the best plan. I thought about taking her to some of the lake towns here in the US, but the Poconos and Lake Tahoe are still cold at the beginning of March. I wanted to be somewhere warm and secluded. Besides, we have a house in Lake Tahoe, and I can take her there anytime I want.

I’ve kept the whole thing a secret. I worked everything out for work with her boss, Dom, and had Quinn buy her an entirely new wardrobe for the trip. I had to remind Quinn not to pick all sexy things since I know that would make Ash feel even worse about herself. Quinn can be fucking nuts sometimes.

Standing at the end of our bed, I look at my beautiful wife trying to figure out the best way to break this to her. She’s going to have a million excuses as to why this is a bad idea, but she’s not getting a say in this. I’m actually more than excited to get away with her, just us, for a while.

I pull the comforter and sheets from the bed, exposing her gorgeous sleeping form. I love that she only sleeps in panties. I love those lacy little short things, especially when they are the only thing she’s wearing. I start kissing her calf and work my way up. By the time I get to her belly, she’s started stirring. “Mmm,” she moans out. She’s going to be disappointed when she realizes I’m not waking her for sex.
