âI heard you fucked some shit up out here Friday. âBout time you put some honor on that Henderson name, nigga.â
âShut up, Storm.â
I was in Jasperâs shop, waiting to get my edge up and Storm was in the chair, talking big shit as always. Everybody in the barbershop already knew what shit was gonâ be as soon as he walked in the door. But every now and then, Jasper would book all of us together, so we could shoot the shit. Well⦠technically, I just joined the crew, but he told me that they did this often. Legend, Red, and Zayson were talking rodeo shit as usual. I talked with them for a minute, trying to figure out what to expect at the Hip Hop Rodeo. That shit was coming in three weeks and I was getting more nervous about it by the day.
Kenny, Ryder, and Philly were sitting close to me and Kenny was saying how they needed to hire someone to handle the day to day at the rice farm. I cleared my throat loudly. They knew good and got damn well that I was the nigga for the job. My daddy kept me and TJ there during the summer, working our asses off. Philly looked over at me and asked, âWhatâs wrong witâchu? You got some pussy hair in your throat?â
Kenny and Ryder fell out laughing as I rolled my eyes and pushed Philly in the arm. âNiggaâ¦â I said, not bothering to even finish the sentence. Turning to Kenny, I said, âKenny, you know Iâm good for that. How much is the job paying?â
âYou gonâ leave LNVA?â
âWith the quickness. I need something thatâs more flexible.â
âThatâs good to know. Go to the office when you get time and talk to Chasity and Mama.â
âAâight. Bet.â
âCome on, nigga. You up,â Jasper said, then took a pull from his blunt.
I didnât know how that nigga killed edges while he was high, but it seemed like his skills got even sharper. Pulling my dreads up into a rubber band at the top of my head, I sat in Jasperâs chair. As I did, my phone vibrated in my pocket. Taking it out, I saw a text from my baby. I just got off work. Iâm going home to study. I miss you.
Okay, baby girl. I miss you, too. Call me later, before you go to bed.
Okay.
Things had been cool between us, although, we hadnât been able to talk much. She had finals starting at the end of next week and she was stressing a lil bit. She also had a paper due at the beginning of the week. I was proud of her, though. She was handling her shit. I sent her good morning texts and she called me after she got out of class and was getting ready for work. But she would be off the entire weekend. I couldnât wait to spend a little time with her. My dick missed her, too. He was like, Nigga, where that tight shit been? Muthafucka would get hard every time I even thought about Danica.
